3 year old funding

The term after your child turns 3 years old you will receive 15 hours universal funding per week for 38 weeks of the year (school term times) this can be taken in 5 hour slots (1 session: 8am-1pm or 1pm-6pm ) if a full day is required the extra 5 hours for the full day must be paid for.

You can choose for your child to come all year round by using 10 hours a week for the 51 weeks we are open.

There is a small consumable charge per funded session to cover food, drinks, activity sessions and resources. This cost along with any extra hours you choose to use are calculated over the year to give you equal monthly payments each month.

All 3 year old children receive the 15 hours universal funding and if you meet any of the criteria below you will be eligible for the extended funding which is commonly known as the 30 hours funding.

Extended Funding (30 hours)

Some 3 and 4 year olds whose parents are working are eligible for Extended (30 hours) funding, to find out if you are eligible and to apply for your “30 hour code” go to How to apply for 30 hours free childcare | Childcare choices

If you you are eligible and you have a valid code, we offer the 30 hours funding stretched over the 51 weeks we are open.

This means you can take 22.5 hours per week (for the 51 weeks of the year we are open) which can be taken in 4.5 hour slots per day either 830am-1pm or 1pm-530pm.

Any hours needed outside of these times would need to be paid for.

There is a small consumable charge per funded session to cover food, drinks, activity sessions, art supplies and much more. This cost along with any extra hours you choose to use are calculated over the year to give you equal monthly payments each month.

We have a limited amount of spaces for the 30 hours funding where parents may take the 30 hours in blocks of 10 hours term time only. This is allocated on a first come first serve basis.

All 3 year old funding starts the term after your child’s 3rd birthday.

Terms start in January, April and September. For instance, if your child’s birthday is in June you will receive the funding from September or if your child’s birthday is January your child will receive funding in April etc. You will need to complete a funding form when your child becomes eligible, and an updated form if your child’s funded hours change whilst they are with us.

We offer 8 stand alone spaces at our nursery for families in financial need. This is where you can attend the nursery using your funded hours only and there will be no consumable charge added meaning your space would be completely free.

When your child approaches funding age we will give you an information sheet with a full breakdown of how the funding works and we are always available to talk through the funding over the phone or in person as we know it is all very complicated to get your head around!

It is important to remember that each nursery offers the funding in different ways so friends and family may have an understanding of the funding that is not the same as ours as it can often be very different between each setting. Please don’t be disheartened and do ask any and all questions you might have.

If you have any questions about the process or you would like to see a breakdown of your options we are more than happy to create mock invoices for you to see and show you a clear breakdown of how everything works whilst going through any questions you have.
